Prepare an accurate property listing: facts, photographs and checks

A publishing checklist for accurate property details, authorised photographs, clear inclusions and current availability.

A useful property listing answers the questions a serious enquirer would otherwise need to ask separately. Accuracy matters more than a long description. Prepare the facts, current photographs and contact arrangements before opening the editor, then check the published page as a visitor would see it.

Identify the actual property

Use a specific title describing the property type and location. Choose the correct city and sale/rent status. State the original listing currency and asking amount accurately. Avoid unsupported claims such as guaranteed returns, “best investment” or a travel time you have not substantiated.

Record the area definition and source. If the advertised area is not carpet area, do not silently relabel it. List the number of bedrooms and bathrooms separately. Mention a room's current use without presenting a storage room or enclosed balcony as a bedroom when that description is not appropriate.

Write around a buyer's or renter's questions

  1. Layout: describe how the rooms connect and any important access limitations.
  2. Condition: identify recent work you can substantiate and defects or repairs that remain.
  3. Inclusions: distinguish fixtures, appliances and furniture that stay from items shown only in photographs.
  4. Costs: say which charges are included and which must be confirmed separately.
  5. Availability: provide a current, realistic status and explain viewing arrangements.

Use images that represent the unit

Upload photographs you own or are authorised to use. Show the actual rooms, not just the building's most attractive shared area. Avoid edits that conceal defects or materially change room proportions. If an image is an illustration, label it prominently as such and explain whether the property itself is real and available.

On HomeAcross, save the property details first, then use the photo and video controls on the editing page. Select a useful cover image and check the order of the remaining media. Do not upload identity documents, private correspondence or photographs containing unnecessary personal information.

Check the address and enquiry route

Enter a consistent address, locality, city and region. Coordinates can help identify a location, but an automatically generated map result is not proof of the property's exact boundary. Check the displayed map and correct any ambiguity. Make sure the contact person can answer questions about the listing.

Review the published page and maintain it

Open the page on a phone and desktop. Check the title, asking amount, currency, description, photographs and map. Confirm that important qualifications are visible without opening another document. Update availability promptly when the property is sold, rented, withdrawn or materially changed.

Use the viewing checklist to anticipate practical enquiries. If you discover an error you cannot correct, contact HomeAcross with the listing reference and the precise change required.
